The Sony A7 III and A7 IV are the full-frame cameras we see most often. Our purchase records show 23 A7 III bodies and 20 A7 IV bodies bought from sellers across India between February and September 2026, and between 4 and 13 September 2026 both model pages were among the most viewed camera pages on our site.
They are also expensive enough that a small problem you did not notice can change the price at pickup. This guide is a practical check you can do before you sell either camera, so that the condition you enter matches what the agent finds.
Sony's naming causes confusion, and search results mix the names freely:
The model code is printed on the label under the camera, next to the serial number. The two bodies are priced as different cameras, so check before you start: sell Sony A7 III or sell Sony A7 IV.
Take the lens off, switch the camera off, and look at the sensor under good light at an angle. Dust is common and can be cleaned. Marks, scratches or smears that do not move with a blower are worth knowing about before pickup, because our agent photographs the sensor and mount with the lens removed.
Both cameras have two card slots. On the A7 III both take SD cards. On the A7 IV, slot 1 takes CFexpress Type A or SD and slot 2 takes SD. Put a card in each slot in turn, take a photo and play it back. A slot that does not read is a fault, even if you only ever used the other one.
The A7 III screen tilts; the A7 IV screen flips out to the side and rotates. Move it through its full range and watch for flicker or a loose hinge. Test the touch function too.
Look through the electronic viewfinder and move your eye away and back. It should switch between the viewfinder and the rear screen cleanly.
With a lens on, focus near and far, and take a burst of photos. The shutter should fire every time without odd noises.
Both bodies use Sony's NP-FZ100 battery. Charge it fully and check that the percentage holds over a few minutes of use. A charger and a genuine battery add to the price.
Look at the lens mount for worn or bent metal, and check the gold contacts are clean.
Check the hot shoe on top is not bent, and open each port cover. Missing or torn rubber covers are cosmetic, but they are easy to spot and they affect the grade.
Full-frame bodies used for weddings and events often show wear on the grip rubber and the base plate. Look at them honestly when you choose Flawless, Good, Average or Below Average.
Sony records the count in image metadata on most Alpha bodies, so you can often read it from one unedited photo. You do not have to: our agent records the information screen at pickup, and there is no fixed cut-off. Our shutter count guide covers the Sony method.
For both cameras the price form asks for your condition grade, how long ago you bought it (1–4 months, 4–12, 12–18, 18–24 or above 24 months), and which accessories you still have: original box, charger, bill or invoice, bag and battery. None of them is required to sell.
The price on the model page is for the body only. Many A7 III owners sell the camera with the kit lens: of 20 price requests since May 2026 that named a lens with the A7 III, 15 named the FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS and 3 named the FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM. Add each lens on the next step, or price it alone at sell camera lens. If you are moving to another Sony E-mount body, you may want to keep your lenses.
