Selling a Sony FX3 or FX30: What to Check Before You Sell

"Sony FX3 second hand" and "Sony FX30 second hand price in India" are searched more than almost any other Sony phrase that reaches our site, and the sellers behind those searches are usually working videographers moving to a newer body. Both cameras have their own price pages with us, and both have been through our hands: our purchase records for India show four FX3 and three FX30 bodies bought between February and September 2026. This guide covers how the two are priced, what the check looks at on a video-first body, and how to sell one safely by courier if you are outside our pickup cities.

The two pages

• Sony FX3: the full-frame Cinema Line body, 12.1 megapixels, launched 2021.
• Sony FX30: the APS-C Cinema Line body, 20.1 megapixels.

The two share a body shape; the sensor size and the front badge tell them apart, and the model number on the base label reads ILME-FX3 or ILME-FX30. The larger Sony FX6 also has a page. How a cinema body is priced

There is no separate rule for video-first bodies. The figure is built from the same four inputs as any camera on our site:

1. The model's current market value, shown at the top of its page and revised as the market moves. On a body in this price range the movement between weeks is worth checking, so read the page close to the day you book.
2. The condition grade: Flawless (100% new condition, zero scuffs and scratches), Good (90% condition, minor scuffs rarely visible), Average (75% condition, a few scratches and scuffs) or Below Average (55% condition, major scratches or dents).
3. The age bracket: under 4 months, 4 to 12, 12 to 18, 18 to 24 or over 24 months. The bill settles the bracket; without a valid invoice the camera is treated as out of warranty. The steps between brackets are larger on a body in a higher price band, which is why the invoice matters more on an FX3 than on an entry camera. See age brackets and resale value.
4. The accessories: the original box, the charger, the battery, the bill and the bag. Each adds to the figure. The FX3's top handle with XLR inputs, cages, extra NP-FZ100 batteries and CFexpress or SD cards are not separate lines on the form, so mention them when you speak to us and show them at the check.

The lens is always a separate line. Most FX bodies arrive with FE zooms or primes, and each is graded on its own: fungus, haze, aperture blades, autofocus, the rings. See how a used lens price is worked out.

What the check covers on a video-first body

The pickup sequence is the same as for any camera: front, back with the screen on, top plate, base with the serial number, sensor and mount with the lens removed, accessories laid out, and two short videos of the camera powering on and firing the shutter and of the information screen. On an FX3 or FX30 the points worth checking yourself before you pick a grade:

• The sensor, exposed with the lens off.
• The side-flip screen and its hinge; these bodies have no viewfinder, so the screen is the only monitor.
• The record button and the tally lamps, with the camera on.
• The multi-interface shoe on top, where the XLR handle mounts, and the 1/4-inch threads on the top and sides that take cages and handles.
• The card slots and the port covers on the side.
• Fan operation, which is audible when the camera is recording.

Selling a high-value body by courier

Many FX sellers are outside our ten pickup cities. You can sell by courier from anywhere in India, and the process is built for exactly this situation:

1. The camera is checked with you on a video call before you pack anything. Show the body, the screen on, the sensor with the lens off, the handle and accessories you are selling, and the information screen. The price is agreed after the call.
2. 90% of the agreed price is paid in advance, before your parcel reaches us. The remaining 10% is paid when it arrives and matches the call.
3. The courier charge is shared half-half.

In Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and the other pickup cities, the agent comes to you, checks the camera in front of you, and pays on the spot; above Rs 10,000 we prefer bank transfer.

Before you hand it over

Back up every card, format them in camera, reset the body from the setup menu and remove any Wi-Fi or app pairing. Our reset checklist has the steps. Keep the bill, the box and every battery together; on a body in this range each one is worth having on the table.
