Where to Sell Camera Equipment in India

Your options for selling a used camera, lens, drone or action camera, what each one asks of you, and exactly how a sale with Sell Your Gadget works - from price to pickup to payment.

There are three places a used camera or lens usually ends up: a local camera shop or dealer, an online classifieds listing, or a buyback service like ours. None of them is wrong. They differ in how much work you do, how quickly you are paid, and how much certainty you have about the price before you hand the equipment over.

Your three options

OptionHow it worksWhat to keep in mind
Local camera shop / dealerYou carry the equipment to the shop; the dealer inspects it and makes an offer on the spot, often as cash or as exchange value against a new purchase. The offer depends on that shop's own stock and demand on that day. Exchange value is usually only usable at the same shop.
Online classifieds / groupsYou list the item with photos and a price, answer buyers, and arrange a meeting or courier yourself. You handle enquiries, negotiation, safety of the meeting and the payment. Selling can take days or weeks, and a lens is often easier to sell than a body.
Camera buyback service (Sell Your Gadget)You pick your model online, answer a few questions on condition, age and accessories, see the price, and book a free doorstep pickup. Our agent checks the equipment in front of you and pays on the spot. The price is fixed before pickup, provided the equipment matches what you described. We buy cameras, lenses, drones, action cameras, camcorders and gaming consoles - not mobiles or laptops.

What we buy

DSLR & mirrorless cameras Mirrorless cameras Camera lenses Drones Action cameras (GoPro, DJI, Insta360) Video cameras & camcorders Compact cameras Gaming consoles (PS4, PS5)

If your model is not listed, call or WhatsApp +91 95608-22859 and we will tell you whether we buy it and quote manually. We do not buy dead cameras, but a working lens from a dead camera can be sold on its own.

How the price is decided

Every quote we give is built from four inputs, and you control three of them:

  1. The model and its current market value - a used camera is worth what the next buyer will pay, and that moves as new models release.
  2. Condition grade - Flawless, Good, Average or Below Average. The agent uses the same words at your door.
  3. Age - how long ago you bought it (under 4 months, 4-12, 12-18, 18-24 or over 24 months).
  4. Accessories - box, charger, battery, bill, bag, strap, caps and mounts. Each one you still have adds to the price; none is required.

The lens is always priced separately from the body, because the two lose value at different rates. The full explanation, with the models India is actually selling from our own sales records, is on the camera resale value page.

How a sale with Sell Your Gadget works

  1. Check the price. Search your model on the home page or send a photo to Instant Quote; answer the condition, age and accessory questions; see your price.
  2. Book a free pickup. Choose a date and time slot. You can also call or WhatsApp us to book.
  3. Get paid at the door. The agent checks the equipment in front of you - front, back with the screen on, top plate, serial number, sensor and mount with the lens removed, accessories, and a short power-on video. If it matches what you described, the price stands and you are paid on the spot by cash, bank transfer or UPI (above Rs 10,000 we prefer bank transfer). If something material is different, the agent re-quotes with the reason and you are free to decline. You get a sale receipt every time.

We ask for a government ID proof at pickup to confirm the seller's identity. If the bill is missing, the item is treated as out of warranty but can still be sold.

Before you sell - a short checklist

  • Charge the battery and keep the charger, box, bill and bag together - each adds to the price.
  • Format the memory card after backing up your photos; the card itself is not required.
  • Know your shutter count if you can (see our shutter count guide); it is one input to the condition grade, not a cut-off.
  • Describe the condition honestly when you check the price - the quote holds at pickup only if the equipment matches.
  • Keep a government ID handy for the pickup.
