Selling a Used Sony Camera: Every Sony Line We Buy and How to Find Your Model

September 14, 2026

"Second hand Sony camera" and "Sony old camera price" are among the most common searches that reach this site, and they come from people with very different cameras: a 2014 A6000, a Handycam from a wedding, an A7 IV bought last year, an RX100 in a drawer. Sony is also the brand we buy most of. This guide lists every Sony line that has its own price page, shows how to read the model code on the camera, and tells you what to do if your Sony is not listed.

Sony by the numbers, from our own records

Sony pages are 59 of the price pages on this site: 32 camera bodies, 8 compact cameras, 16 video cameras and camcorders, and 3 PlayStation consoles. In the week of 4 to 10 September 2026, Sony pages received 246 of the 845 model-page views on the site, second only to Canon.

Our purchase records for February to September 2026 show which Sony bodies actually come in: 82 ZV-E10 bodies, the most of any camera we buy; 29 A6400; 28 A6100; 23 A7 III; 20 A7 IV; 15 A6700; 14 A6600; 8 A6000; 4 A7C; and 3 FX30, plus the A7C II, the A7R and A7S bodies, the ZV-E10 II, the A5100 and the A58. Of the 909 purchases recorded in India since February 2026, 743 included a lens alongside the body.

The Sony lines and where each one lives

APS-C E-mount: A6000 series, A5000 series, ZV-E10

The A6000, A6100, A6300, A6400, A6500, A6600 and A6700 each have a page; so do the A5000 and A5100, the ZV-E10 and the ZV-E10 II. The seven A6000-series bodies are the most confused-for-each-other cameras we see, so use our guide to which A6000-series body you have before you pick a page.

Full-frame E-mount: A7, A7C, A7R, A7S

Fourteen full-frame Alpha bodies are listed, from the A7 II to the A7 V, including both A7C models and the A7R and A7S lines. The A7 III and A7 IV are the two we buy most; the ILCE code on the base plate tells the rest apart. Both guides are on the blog: selling a Sony A7 III or A7 IV and which full-frame Sony do you have.

Cinema line: FX3, FX30, FX6

The FX3, the FX30 and the FX6 are listed in the camera section, priced as bodies. The handle, cage and batteries are accessories. See selling a Sony FX3 or FX30.

A-mount: A58, A68, A3000, A3500

The older DSLR-shaped bodies are listed under the Sony DSLR series: the A-mount A58 and A68, and the E-mount A3000K and A3500. The DT 18-55 mm and 55-200 mm kit lenses that came with the A58 are quoted separately, like every lens.

Compact: RX100 and Cyber-shot

Eight Sony compacts are listed on sell compact camera: the RX100 II, III, IV, V, VI and VII, and the Cyber-shot W830 and WX220. The RX100 generation is printed on the front plate as a Roman numeral, and the base label reads DSC-RX100M followed by the generation number.

Video: Handycam, AX, NX and PXW

Sixteen Sony video cameras are listed on sell video camera: the Handycam HDR-CX130 through CX405 and PJ models, the FDR-AX43 and AX53, and the professional NX200, NX5, NX5R, PXW-Z70 and PXW-Z90. Our guide to selling a Sony Handycam or video camera covers the checks.

PlayStation

Not a camera, but the same pickup: the PS5 Slim Digital, PS5 Slim Disc and PS4 Slim are on sell gaming console.

Find your model from the label

Every Sony carries its model code on the base plate or, on a camcorder, under the battery or on the base. The prefix tells you the section of the site:

  • ILCE: an Alpha interchangeable-lens E-mount body (A6400 is ILCE-6400, A7 IV is ILCE-7M4, ZV-E10 is ZV-E10 in the camera section)
  • SLT or ILCA: an A-mount body (A58, A68), listed under the Sony DSLR series
  • DSC: a compact, listed under compact cameras (DSC-RX100M3 is the RX100 III)
  • HDR or FDR: a Handycam, listed under video cameras; HXR and PXW are the professional camcorders

Once you have the code, search it on the site or open the section above. The Version screen in the camera's setup menu shows the same name, and that is the screen the agent records at pickup.

What changes the price on any Sony

The price form uses the same four inputs for every camera: the model page, which sets the maximum for that model in Flawless condition; the condition grade, Flawless, Good, Average or Below Average; how long ago you bought it, in five brackets from under 4 months to over 24 months; and the accessories you still have. A camera or camcorder price is for the body only, and the lens is quoted on its own line; the catalogue holds 32 Sony lenses. The full explanation is in how much you get for an old camera in India.

If your Sony is not listed

Send one photo to Instant Quote or call or WhatsApp +91 95608 22859. We tell you whether we buy that model and quote manually. The camera must power on; a dead body is not accepted, though a working Sony lens from a dead body can be sold on its own on sell lens.

Pickup is free in ten cities, including Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai, and you are paid at the door. Anywhere else in India you can sell by courier after a video call check.

Frequently asked questions

Which Sony camera do you buy the most?

The ZV-E10. Our purchase records for February to September 2026 show 82 ZV-E10 bodies bought from sellers across India, more than any other camera of any brand.

Is the price for my Sony the same everywhere in India?

Yes. The model page figure is the same whether you sell at a store, by doorstep pickup in one of the ten pickup cities, or by courier from anywhere else.

Do you buy old Sony Handycams?

Yes, the listed Handycam, AX, NX and PXW models each have a page in the video camera section. A model that is not listed can be quoted manually from a photo.

My Sony is an A-mount A58 with two kit lenses. How is it priced?

The A58 page gives the body figure; each lens is added on the next step and quoted in its own grade. All three are paid for together at pickup.
