Selling a Professional Video Camera: Sony NX5R, NX200, PXW-Z90, FX6, Canon C100 or Panasonic HC-PV100GW

September 14, 2026

Wedding and event videographers in India replace their main camera more often than any other group of sellers, usually when a client starts asking for 4K or when a body has been on a shoulder rig for four seasons. The consumer Handycams have their own guide. This one is for the professional camcorders and cinema bodies that have their own price pages on this site: the Sony NX and PXW lines, the FX6, the Canon C100 pair and the three Panasonic professional camcorders. It lists the pages, explains how a camcorder is priced, and tells you what the agent checks on a camera that has done a few hundred shoots.

The professional video pages we list

Sony (in the video camera section):

Canon:

Panasonic:

All of these are on sell video camera, which lists 21 video camera pages in total including the nine consumer Handycams covered in selling a Sony Handycam. The Canon R5 C and R6V, the video-first mirrorless bodies, are covered in selling a full-frame Canon R. The Sony cinema bodies with interchangeable lenses are in the main camera section instead: Sell Sony ILME-FX6, and the FX3 and FX30, which have their own guide in selling a Sony FX3 or FX30.

How often do we see them?

Less often than DSLRs, but steadily. Our purchase records for February to September 2026 include several Sony PXW-Z90 bodies, an NX200, an FDR-AX43 and consumer Handycams; the video camera page's "top selling models" list currently shows the FDR-AX53, the CX8ED, the PXW-Z90, the C100 Mark II, the Handycam HDR-CX405 and the FDR-AX43. If you have a model that is listed, the page figure is live and applies to you.

How a camcorder is priced

The same four inputs as every camera on the site:

  1. The model page sets the maximum for that model in Flawless condition.
  2. The condition grade: Flawless, Good, Average or Below Average.
  3. How long ago you bought it: under 4 months, 4 to 12, 12 to 18, 18 to 24 or over 24 months. Nearly every professional camcorder we see is over 24 months, and that is expected; the age brackets we use explains why age is one input and not the whole story.
  4. Accessories: box, charger, battery, bill, bag. None is required.

For the fixed-lens camcorders (NX5R, NX5, NX200, Z90, Z70, AX53, AX43, PV100GW, CX8ED, CH X 1000) there is no lens line. For the C100, C100 Mark II and FX6 the body is priced on its own and each EF or E-mount lens is quoted on its own line, in its own grade, and paid for together with the body; how a used lens price is worked out covers the lens grades.

What we check on a working camcorder

The standard sequence applies, front, back with the screen on, top plate, base with the serial, accessories laid out and a power-on video, with these additions for a professional body:

  • The lens and the servo zoom on a fixed-lens camcorder, through the whole range, with no grinding, and the front element for scratches.
  • The LCD panel and its hinge and, on the NX, PXW and C100 bodies, the viewfinder: the hinge ribbon is the common failure on a body pulled open at every shoot.
  • The XLR audio inputs and the handle. Both channels should record with the handle attached and the audio switches should click cleanly. A loose handle mount is a lower grade.
  • The card slots, both of them on the dual-slot bodies, reading and writing.
  • The HDMI and SDI outputs on the Z90, NX5R, C100 and FX6, which are plugged into monitors and recorders on every job.
  • The battery, whether it holds a charge, and whether it is the original type: an L-series on the Sony camcorders, a BP-9 series on the C100. Spare batteries and the charger are accessories.
  • The hour meter where the camera shows one; like a shutter count it is one input to the grade, not a cut-off.
  • The fan on the FX6 and the C100 Mark II, which should run quietly.

If the camera matches what you entered, the quote holds and you are paid at the door by bank transfer or UPI, which we prefer above Rs 10,000, or cash. If something material is different, the agent re-quotes on the spot with the reason and you are free to decline.

Rigs, monitors and the rest of the kit

We buy the camera, its lenses and its listed accessories. Tripods, monitors, wireless microphones, lights and cages are not on the price form. If you are clearing a whole kit, call or WhatsApp +91 95608 22859 before the pickup and we will tell you what we can take and what we cannot, so the agent arrives knowing what to check. A camcorder that does not power on is not accepted; the lenses from a C100 or FX6 can be sold on their own on sell lens.

Where and how

Free doorstep pickup in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Chennai and the other cities on our city pages. From anywhere else in India you can sell by courier: the condition check is done with you on a video call before you pack, the courier charge is shared half and half, and 90 percent of the agreed price is paid before the parcel reaches us. For a camcorder that means showing the zoom, the XLR inputs and the hour meter on the call. If your model is not listed, send one photo to Instant Quote and we will tell you whether we buy it.

Frequently asked questions

Do you buy the Sony NX5R and PXW-Z90 with high hours on the meter?

Yes. The hour meter is one input to the condition grade, not a cut-off. A camcorder that powers on, zooms cleanly and records on both channels is bought in the grade it is in.

Is the lens included in the Canon C100 Mark II price?

No. The C100, C100 Mark II and FX6 are priced as bodies; each EF or E-mount lens is quoted on its own line and paid for together with the body at pickup. The fixed-lens camcorders have no lens line.

Can I sell a professional camcorder by courier?

Yes, from anywhere in India. The condition is checked with you on a video call before you pack, the courier charge is shared half and half, and 90 percent is paid in advance. Pack the handle, batteries and charger you showed on the call.

Do you take tripods, monitors and wireless microphones with the camera?

They are not on the price form. Call or WhatsApp before the pickup and tell us what the kit includes; we will say what we can take. The camera, its lenses and the listed accessories are always bought.
