Compact cameras are the ones people find in a drawer: a Cybershot bought for a family trip, an RX100 that a phone eventually replaced, a PowerShot superzoom from a safari. Many sellers assume nobody buys them any more. We do, and the compact section of this site has its own price pages. This guide lists the eleven compact bodies we list, explains what the agent checks on a camera with a lens that cannot come off, and covers the compacts that are not listed, including the very common older Cybershots.

All eleven are on sell compact camera. Two popular Canon compacts are listed in the main camera section rather than here: the G7 X Mark II and the G7 X Mark III, both on the Canon G7X II page and its Mark III sibling. Our purchase records show 8 Canon G7X II bodies bought from sellers across India between March 2026 and July 2026, and the G7 X Mark III was the compact the Instant Quote tool identified most often in its first 150 photos.

Which RX100 do you have?

The RX100 line ran through seven generations in almost the same body, and the price pages are per generation, so this matters. The base label gives the model code: DSC-RX100M2 is the II, M3 the III, M4 the IV, M5 (or M5A) the V, M6 the VI and M7 the VII. Tells without the label:

• RX100 II: tilting screen, hot shoe on top, no viewfinder.
• RX100 III, IV and V: a pop-up viewfinder on the left of the top plate, no hot shoe, a 24-70 mm equivalent lens. The three look alike; the label or the firmware screen decides.
• RX100 VI and VII: the same pop-up viewfinder with a much longer 24-200 mm equivalent lens, and the VII adds a microphone socket on the side.

The original RX100 (no suffix) is not listed; see the last section.

What changes the price on a compact

The price form uses the model page, the condition grade (Flawless, Good, Average or Below Average) and the accessories you still have: box, charger, battery, bill, bag. None of the accessories is required to sell. The full explanation of the grades is on our camera resale value page. There is no lens line for a compact because the lens is built in, which is also why the lens is the first thing the agent checks.

What we check on a compact at pickup

The agent follows the same sequence as for every camera, front, back with the screen on, top plate, base with the serial, accessories laid out and a power-on video, with these differences for a fixed-lens body:

• The lens extends and retracts smoothly on power on and off, with no grinding and no "turn the power off and on again" error. A lens that sticks is the most common compact fault and puts the camera in the lowest grade or out of the sale if it will not open at all.
• The front element, for scratches and haze, since there is no filter protecting it and no lens cap on most of these.
• The zoom through the whole range and the pop-up viewfinder on the RX100 III to VII, which should rise and lock cleanly.
• The screen and, on the W830 and WX220, the buttons, which wear through with years of pocket carry.
• The battery, an NP-BX1 on the RX100 line and NP-BN on the W830, and whether it holds a charge. Chargers were not always in the box, so a charger or the USB cable counts as an accessory when you have it.
• The tripod thread and the battery door, which crack on the smallest bodies.

If the camera matches what you entered, the quote holds and you are paid at the door by bank transfer, UPI or cash. If something material is different, the agent re-quotes on the spot with the reason and you are free to decline.

The compacts that are not listed

Yes, both have their own price pages. The condition grade and the accessories you still have decide the figure. The camera must power on and the lens must extend without an error.

Which RX100 generation do I have?

Read the base label: DSC-RX100M2 to M7 map to the RX100 II to VII. The II has a hot shoe and no viewfinder; III to V have a pop-up viewfinder and a short zoom; VI and VII have the pop-up viewfinder and a long zoom.

Is the Canon G7 X Mark II a compact on your site?

It is listed in the main Canon camera section rather than the compact section, with the G7 X Mark III next to it. Search either name from the home page and you will land on the right page.

My compact's lens is stuck. Will you buy it?

No. A compact whose lens will not open is not accepted, and there is no separate lens to sell. If it powers on and the lens extends, even with cosmetic wear, it is a working camera and we buy it in the grade it is in.
