Selling a Canon EOS 1200D, 2000D, 4000D or 100D: The Older Entry Canon DSLRs We Still Buy

September 14, 2026

"Canon 1200D price" is one of the searches that brings people to this site most often without a click, which usually means the searcher is not sure anyone still buys the camera. We do. The 1200D, the 2000D, the 4000D and the small 100D all have their own price pages, and all four appear in our purchase records this year. The two entry bodies we buy most, the 1300D and 3000D, and the 1500D have their own guides. This one covers the other four older entry Canons: how to identify them, how the age bracket works on a camera from this era, and what the agent looks at.

The four pages we list

All four are in the Canon section of sell DSLR camera, next to the 1300D, 1500D and 3000D. If you have one of those three, read the 1300D and 3000D guide or the 1500D resale value guide. The step up from these, the 200D, 750D, 800D, 80D and 90D, is in selling a Canon EOS 200D to 90D, and every Canon line is on one page in every Canon model we buy.

Do you really buy them?

Yes. Our purchase records show 5 Canon EOS 1200D bodies bought from sellers across India between February 2026 and July 2026, and the 1200D page carries that line live. The records also include 4000D and 2000D bodies and a 100D. They are fewer than the 1500D (15 in the same period) or the 1300D (13), because fewer are left in cupboards, not because we turn them away. The condition is simple: the camera must power on, fire the shutter and show a working screen. A dead body is not accepted, but its EF-S lenses can be sold on their own.

Which one do you have?

The name is on the front plate, to the right of the mount when the camera faces you, and on the base label. Tells:

  • 1200D: the 2014 entry body, 18 megapixels, a fixed screen without touch, built-in flash, LP-E10 battery. Same body shape as the 1300D that followed it; the 1300D added Wi-Fi.
  • 2000D: the 2018 successor to the 1300D, 24 megapixels, a fixed non-touch screen, Wi-Fi, LP-E10 battery. It shares the shell with the 1500D sold in India, and the two names are used for the same camera in different markets, so if your plate says 2000D use the 2000D page and if it says 1500D use the 1500D page.
  • 4000D: the cheapest of the four, 18 megapixels, a smaller fixed screen, and a plastic lens mount instead of metal. In India it is sold as the 3000D; the same rule applies, use the page that matches your plate.
  • 100D: the small one, noticeably shorter and lighter than the others, with a touch screen and the LP-E12 battery shared with the EOS M50. Sold as the SL1 in some markets.

The firmware screen in the wrench menu names the model and is what the agent records at pickup.

Age is one input of four

Every one of these cameras is over 24 months old, so the age question on the form gives the same answer for all of them: the oldest bracket. That does not make the figure zero, and it is not the whole calculation. The four inputs are the model page, which sets the maximum for that model in Flawless condition; the condition grade, Flawless, Good, Average or Below Average; the age bracket; and the accessories you still have, box, charger, battery, bill, bag, none of them required. On a body from this era the grade and the accessories move the figure more than the age does, because the age is already priced into the model page. Our guides to the age brackets and how much you get for an old camera in India explain this with the site's own rate tables.

The kit lens is a separate line, and often the better part

The figure on each page is for the body only. The 18-55 mm kit lens, the 55-250 mm, the 50 mm f/1.8 and anything else are quoted on their own lines, in their own grade, and paid for together with the body at pickup. On a 1200D or 4000D the lens frequently comes to a larger share of the total than it does on a newer body, so check it against the light for fungus and haze before pickup and keep the caps and hood with it; the self-check is in how to check a lens before you sell and the pricing in how a used lens price is worked out.

What we check at pickup

The standard sequence, front, back with the screen on, top plate, base with the serial, sensor and mount with the lens off, accessories laid out, a power-on video with a few shutter actuations and the information screen. On these bodies:

  • The sensor and the mirror, with the lens off, for marks and dust that does not blow away. Cameras that sat unused in a humid city for years often have fungus on the mirror or the focusing screen; ask the agent to look before you fill in Flawless.
  • The plastic mount on the 4000D, for cracks, and the metal mount on the others for wear.
  • The screen, for pressure marks, and touch across the surface on the 100D.
  • The battery, whether it holds a charge; a battery that has sat flat for years often does not, and a spare or a charger is an accessory.
  • The mode dial and the pop-up flash, which should rise when pressed.
  • The rubber grip, which lifts on the 1200D and 100D and goes to the grade, not to whether we buy.

If the camera matches what you entered, the quote holds and you are paid at the door by bank transfer, UPI or cash. If something material is different, the agent re-quotes on the spot with the reason and you are free to decline.

700D, 600D, 550D, 1100D: not listed yet

The 700D is the camera the Instant Quote tool identifies most often among the Canons we do not list, and the 550D, 600D and 1100D are older still. Send one photo to Instant Quote or call or WhatsApp +91 95608 22859: we tell you whether we buy that model and quote manually. Whatever the body, the EF-S lenses on it are on the Canon lens list and can be sold on sell lens.

Where and how

Free doorstep pickup in Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Pune and the other cities on our city pages; sell by courier from anywhere else in India. Before pickup, back up and format the card and clear any Wi-Fi pairing; the steps are in back up, reset and unpair your camera.

Frequently asked questions

Do you still buy a Canon 1200D in 2026?

Yes. It has its own price page and our records show 1200D bodies bought from sellers across India this year. It must power on and fire the shutter; cosmetic wear goes to the grade.

My plate says 2000D but the Indian model is the 1500D. Which page do I use?

Use the page that matches the name on your camera. The 2000D and 1500D are the same camera sold under different names, as are the 4000D and 3000D; both names have their own pages.

Is the 18-55 mm lens included in the 1200D price?

No. Every page figure is for the body only. The lens is quoted on its own line and paid for together with the body at pickup, and on a camera this age it is often the larger part of the total.

Do you buy a Canon 700D or 550D?

Not listed yet. Send a photo to Instant Quote or WhatsApp us and we will tell you whether we buy it and quote manually. The lenses can be sold on their own either way.
