"It is three years old, is it still worth anything?" Yes, and the answer is more predictable than most sellers expect, because age is handled by a fixed set of brackets rather than a guess. This guide lists the brackets our price form uses for cameras, drones and gaming consoles, explains what proves the age, and shows why age and condition are two different questions.
Every figure we quote is built from four inputs: the model's current market value, the condition grade, how long ago you bought it, and the accessories you still have. Age is the third of those. It never decides the price on its own; a popular model in Flawless condition from the oldest bracket can still fetch more than a less-wanted model bought last year. For DSLR and mirrorless cameras, video cameras and action cameras, the form asks how long ago you bought the item and places the answer in one of five brackets:
The youngest bracket carries no age deduction. Each older bracket deducts a little more than the one before, and the amounts are set per price band, so a body in a higher price range has a larger step between brackets than an entry body. We do not publish the rupee amounts on the site because they are revised; the form applies them the moment you choose a bracket, and the model page for your camera, for example Sell Canon EOS R10, lists the brackets that apply to its band under "What changes the price".
Drones follow a shorter list: 1 to 6 months, 6 to 12 months, 12 to 24 months and over 24 months. The pattern is the same: no deduction in the youngest bracket, a little more with each step. The bracket is confirmed from the invoice. If you have the bill, the purchase date on it settles the question. If you do not, the item is treated as out of warranty even if it was bought recently, and you cannot claim a younger bracket. You can still sell without a bill; it is simply one fewer thing adding to the price. People sometimes assume an old camera must be graded Average. It need not be. The condition grade looks only at the camera in front of the agent: Flawless (100% new condition, zero scuffs and scratches), Good (90% condition, minor scuffs rarely visible), Average (75% condition, a few scratches and scuffs) or Below Average (55% condition, major scratches or dents). A body from the over-24-months bracket that has lived in a cupboard is old but Flawless. A body from the 4-to-12 bracket that went on a monsoon trek is young but scratched. You will be asked both questions, and they are priced separately.

Many of the cameras that reach us were launched years ago. Of the DSLRs that reached us between February and September 2026, the most common were the Nikon D5600, the Canon EOS 200D Mark II and the Nikon D3500, all models launched years ago. Their market value is what carries the price; the age bracket is a fixed step on top. Cameras do not appreciate. The bracket only moves in one direction, and the model's market value tends to move the same way as newer bodies arrive. If you already know you are not using a camera, the version of it worth the most is the one you sell this month. Check the price on the model page, or send a photo to Instant Quote, close to the day you intend to book, so the figure you see is the figure you are paid.
