Selling a Panasonic Lumix G7, G85, GH5 or G100: What We Buy and What to Check

Lumix owners are a smaller group than Canon or Sony owners, and the searches that bring them here, "Panasonic GH5 second hand", "used Lumix camera", "Lumix G85 used", tend to come from people who have used the camera hard for video. This guide lists the four Lumix bodies that have their own price page, explains why the Micro Four Thirds lens is always a separate line, tells you what we check on a video-worn body, and covers the GH4, FZ and other Lumix models that are not listed.

All four sit in the camera section alongside the Canon, Nikon, Sony and Fujifilm bodies. Three Panasonic camcorders, the HC-PV100GW, the CX8ED and the CH X 1000 4K, are listed separately on sell video camera. The catalogue also holds 11 Panasonic Lumix lenses, quoted on their own lines.

Our purchase records for February to September 2026 include Lumix G7 bodies bought from sellers. In the same period the photo quote tool identified Panasonic in 7 of the 133 photos sent to it between 4 and 9 September 2026, and the GH4 and the FZ2500 were among the models it identified that do not yet have a page. So the demand is real, and the route for an unlisted Lumix is at the end of this guide.

Which Lumix do you have?

The model name is printed on the front of the camera below the name plate and on the base label as DMC or DC followed by the model: DMC-G7, DMC-G85, DC-GH5, DC-G100. The G85 is sold as the G80 or G81 in some markets, so an imported body may carry one of those names; use the G85 page. The Version Display entry in the setup menu shows the model name and firmware, and that is the screen the agent records at pickup.

The lens is a separate line, on every Lumix

The figure on a Lumix body page is for the body only. Micro Four Thirds lenses, whether the 14-42 mm or 12-60 mm kit lens, the 25 mm f/1.7 or a 12-35 mm f/2.8, are quoted on their own line in their own grade, and paid for together with the body at pickup. This is the same rule as for every camera we buy: of the 909 purchases recorded in India since February 2026, 743 included at least one lens, and the two lose value at different rates. What changes the price

The price form uses the same four inputs for every camera:

1. The model page, which sets the maximum for that model in Flawless condition.
2. The condition grade: Flawless, Good, Average or Below Average.
3. How long ago you bought it: under 4 months, 4 to 12, 12 to 18, 18 to 24 or over 24 months. Most Lumix bodies we see are in the oldest bracket; our guide to the age brackets explains why that is only one of the four inputs.
4. The accessories you still have: box, charger, battery, bill, bag. None is required to sell.

What we check on a video-worn Lumix

A GH5 that has shot weddings or a G7 that has been a YouTube camera for three years shows wear in specific places, and those are the places the grade comes from:

• The sensor, with the lens off, for marks and dust that does not blow away. Micro Four Thirds sensors sit close to the mount, so check gently.
• The articulating screen and its hinge. Flip it out, rotate it and fold it back; the ribbon inside the hinge is the most common failure on a heavily used body. Check the touch across the whole surface.
• The viewfinder, for a working eye sensor and no marks inside.
• The HDMI and microphone ports. Bodies used on a rig are plugged and unplugged hundreds of times; a loose HDMI port is a lower grade.
• Both card slots on the GH5, reading and writing.
• The mount, for wear on the bayonet and clean contacts.
• The battery and whether it holds a charge, and a power-on video with a few shutter actuations, the same one the agent records. On the G85 and GH5 the in-body stabilisation should be silent and the image steady in live view.

If the camera matches what you entered, the quote holds and you are paid at the door by bank transfer, UPI or cash. If something material is different, the agent re-quotes on the spot with the reason and you are free to decline.

GH4, GH5 II, GH6, G9, FZ or LX: not listed yet

We do not list the GH4, GH5 II, GH6, G9, the FZ bridge cameras or the LX compacts at the moment. Yes. The lens, whether the 12-60 mm kit or anything else, is added on the next step of the form and quoted in its own grade.

My G7 screen hinge is loose but the camera works. Which grade is it?

A working camera with a loose hinge is Average or Below Average depending on the rest. Enter the honest grade and the quote will hold at pickup.

My Lumix says G80 on the front. Which page do I use?

The G80 and G81 are the same camera as the G85 in other markets. Use the G85 page and mention the name on the form.
